Drop the labelmaker.

One thing I really love about what I do, is I get to meet amazing people who find real value in what you do. Like, they legitimately love hearing your ideas and seeing how you work. It’s awesome.

I’ve recently been teaming up with another designer to gain some additional knowledge in the world of design. She’s one of those people that you could collaborate with and know they aren’t going to be nit-picking your work the entire time. Seriously I’m so blessed to have the opportunity.

And one thing I’m learning and accepting about myself..
I am an artist.
I contain talents in many areas of my life, and don’t feel like being confined to just one label.
I find immense value in having a space or look that speaks to your soul.
I have joy in my heart when doing these things that I love.

Yesterday I got to meet a couple that was unfortunately affected by Hurricane Harvey, and assist them in bringing their space back to life. We’re taking their original floor plan 80s home and putting a modern yet homey vibe to it with marbled subway tile backsplash, taking their new modern cabinets all the way up to the ceiling to add some height, bringing in some light with a face lift to the walls, and creating cool lines with the new floors and fireplace. It’ll be a doozy, but so worth it. Be ready for some amazing afters, because here’s the before:

Lala is ready for her new floors to be in, too.

This family deserves so much, and I’m so thankful to be apart of this rebuilding process and bring their vision to life. They speak of so much grace from their friends and family and neighbors during this time and I can’t help but feel amazed by the amount of love that surrounds this community. A tragedy struck so many here in Houston, and together we are all rebuilding and bringing a little bit of TLC back to this cold, hard world.

I can’t wait to show you how it all comes together.
